General Appointments

Consultations at Hanham Health are by appointment only, but any urgent cases will always be seen by our duty doctor who is on site to handle any emergencies.

All doctors appointments are 10 minutes in duration so please be mindful of this when booking and during your consultation.

You are able to book routine appointments up to 4 weeks in advance.

You can book appointments by telephoning your surgery, visiting your surgery, or using our online services. Click here for more information about our online booking service.

Out of Hours and Medical Advice
If you need medical help when the surgery is closed, please call 111.  NHS 111 is a telephone advice line and sign posting service for patients with urgent health problems, but which do not need a call to 999.  After assessment by a 111 health advisor, if you need immediate medical care they can arrange for you to talk to a clinical advisor, see a Doctor or go to an appropriate alternative health care service.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

Home Visits

Home visits are for the housebound, and for people who are too poorly to come to the surgery. This is because 3 - 4 patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to complete 1 home visit. Home visits are at the discretion of the doctor who may wish to speak to you before they agree to visit. The receptionist may take some brief details in order for the doctor to assess the urgency of each case.

Please telephone before 11:00 if you wish to book a Home visit.

Telephone Advice

Some problems can be dealt with over the telephone. If you need medical advice and feel you do not need to visit the surgery, please telephone before 11:00 am and the receptionist will arrange for an appropriate clinician to call you back. The receptionist may take some details from you so that the doctor can assess the urgency of your query.

The Role of Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners are experienced nurses who have furthered their studies at University. They are able to diagnose, prescribe medications and refer cases to hospital.

We have 3 Nurse Practitioners at Hanham Health who run their own surgeries on a daily basis. They can be booked in the same way you would book an appointment with a Doctor.
